Child care help in Nevada: the income line, the co-pay, and the wait
Nevada's program is Child Care and Development Program (CCDP), run by Nevada Department of Human Services, Division of Social Services. Here is its entry line, its exit line, its co-pay machine, its rule on the second bill, and whether it is funding new families right now.
The lines, for a family of 4
41% of state median income for new applicants (two-tier chart, Oct 1 2026).
49% of state median income at renewal.
Who skips the income test
These lanes waive or shortcut parts of the income test in Nevada — if one is you, say so on page one of the application:
- NEON (New Employees of Nevada) participants — bypass the 41% SMI new-applicant test
- Children in foster care or with child-welfare involvement
- Families experiencing homelessness
The co-pay
Nevada's copay runs as a percent of income (PN3 reports up to 7%). PN3's Nevada worked example at a 5% copay: on a $50/day state rate the copay is $2.50/day — see the gap note for the rest of that family's real bill.
Fee scale: 2025 (PN3 worked example + cap).
The gap: allowed in Nevada
Nevada allows the overage, and most providers charge it: PN3 (Dec 2025) reports 82% of Nevada providers charge families the difference above the state rate. Worked example: state pays on a $50/day ceiling, the provider charges $65/day, copay 5% — the family owes $2.50 copay + $15.00 overage = $17.50 per day.
The gap estimate in the free check uses the state rate ceiling on this page and the price you enter. It is always an estimate — your child's rate category and your contract set the real figure.
The $50/day state maximum rate from PN3's Nevada worked example (about $1,083/month). Your child's age group and county rate may differ — treat this ceiling as the worked example's, and confirm your rate category with CCDP.
